Project Overview
Electrical installation for the new Sports Facility at MTU, Tralee.
More Details
This project is located in the North Campus of Munster Technological University (MTU), Tralee, Co Kerry. The electrical installation at MTU Tralee comprises of main and submain distribution cabling, main and submain distribution boards, general electrical services, small power, general lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm system, security system, communications installation, wiring to mechanical equipment, CCTV installation, data wiring, cable tray, trunking, lightning protection, and external services.
Scope of Works
- David Doyle Electrical installed LED fittings with motion sensors with daylight control. A handheld infrared remote can remotely program the lighting system.
- The lighting control system for the sports hall area allows for the control of all luminaires in the sports hall via a DALI Control interface. The system has automatic time scheduling, and delivers multiple lighting classifications per individual court.
- The emergency lighting installation includes surface-mounted, self-contained, battery-operated 3W LED emergency luminaires with 3 hour maintenance.
- The L.V. switchboards include incoming circuit breakers, busbar couplers, fault relays, digital meter and outgoing MCCB’s.
- The external lighting features wall-mounted linear LEDs and carpark lights. Column-mounted LED luminaires on 7m poles light the external road and carpark.
- Radial final circuits supply 13A twin single socket outlets, spur connection units, and fixed equipment. The team installed skirting wall-mounted multi-compartment trunking. They used an underfloor trunking system with flush outlet boxes.
- Three touch screen fire detection control panels are at the entrance. The panels control smoke doors, access doors, and open vents; they also shut down designated equipment. Each panel supports up to 504 addressable devices. The panels have four programmable supervised sounder outputs. They store history logs for 10,000 events, allow alarm sensitivity and delay adjustments.
- The smoke detectors use the light scattering photoelectrical principle to measure smoke density in the chamber. The heat detectors use an electronic thermistor to measure thermal conditions.
- AN 8-zone master controller networks and controls the disable refuge system.
- The intruder alarm system includes a control panel, infrared detectors, tamper devices, keypad, and sounder.
- The IP-based CCTV system includes internal and external cameras, video recorders, monitors, and multipliers.
