Project Overview
Electrical service installations to the the new school building, Gaelcholaiste Chiarrai in Tralee, County Kerry. The project comprised of a 600 pupil school building, a sports hall, and all associated electrical siteworks.

During this project, David Doyle Electrical aimed to enhance educational infrastructure in Tralee, Co Kerry. The project included a new post primary school, Gaelcholaiste Tralee, for 600 pupils. It also featured a PE hall with a fitness centre, toilets, changing rooms and meeting rooms.
David Doyle Electrical provided electrical supply and distribution, general services, small power, lighting services, communication technology, security services, and lift installation to Gaelcholaiste Tralee.
Scope of Works
- A metal clad main distribution board was provided in the electrical switch room. Additionally, David Doyle Electrical installed sub-mains cables on trays to supply power to the Sub-Distribution boards, MCC and distribution boards.
- The main switchboard incorporates a digital power meter linked to the energy monitoring system.
- The team used galvanised steel trunking for power and lighting, and DADO trunking for data points and sockets.
- New final circuits and outlets were provided.
- Specialist rooms containing machinery were fitted with a key-operated electric isolation system with emergency knock off button on the rooms machine power supply.
- Linear high frequency fluorescent luminaires with prismatic diffusers illuminate each area. The classrooms, toilets and playing court feature a variety of light levels; 120 lux, 200 lux, 300 lux, 400 lux, and 700 lux. Mounted bulkheads with energy-efficient lamps linked to the intruder alarm system, provide external lighting.
- The school features a one-way public address system, vandal proof speakers, phone lines, and a wireless network. Additionally, an induction loop system links the PE hall to the PA system.
- The building is equipped with a fire alarm system, an intruder alarm system, and a door entry system. Furthermore, an emergency call system was set up in the disabled toilets. In addition, lightning protection and CCTV cameras were fitted throughout the school to enhance safety and security.
- Two 8 passenger 630kg lifts were installed to serve the ground, first and second floors.
